Orville Murphy and Jerry Middaugh
PACIFIC NW FOLKSINGER INTERVIEWS
ORVILLE MURPHY & JERRY MIDDAUGH
Interviewed by Bob Nelson, Sept. 22, 2010

This is the first in what we hope are a series of interviews with prominent folksingers of the Pacific Northwest. Bob Nelson interviewed Orville Murphy and Jerry Middaugh on Sept. 22, 2010 at Orville’s home in Kirkland, WA. Both musicians talk about their backgrounds and interest in folk music and also play some music together.

Orville (Murph) Murphy is a remarkable musician with a rich background. He grew up in Kentucky, learning songs and stories from family, learned how to blow harp from his Grandmother, and today weaves those memories into spell binding stories and songs.

Jerry Middaugh grew up not far from that heritage and has long been influenced by the music. He is a consummate musician weaving voice and guitar and banjo. Together these two solid musicians present a blend that respects the heritage and delights the listener.
